Was the year 2000 really the millenium?

NOTE: This is another article from 1999, this one explaining another reason the great Y2K did not need to be feared and no goats need be sacrificed. ;)

SHOCKING REVELATIONS!!!

DID YOU KNOW THAT IT'S NOT REALLY YEAR 2000...?

( 1 ) THE YEAR 2000 HAS COME AND GONE!
( 2 ) THE YEAR 2000 IS REALLY YEAR 2007
( 3 ) JESUS WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 15, 7 B.C.

IT'S A BIG MISTAKE!
If you are ( or if you know someone ) panicking about Year 2000 as being the end of the world, guess what? You could be panicking for no reason at all. The year 2000 has actually come and gone. And chances are, you didn't even know about it.

Here's a shocking bit of information that'll confuse most people: The Year 2000 isn't actually the year 2000. The whole business of calling it Year 2000 A.D. is based on a number that someone picked out of thin air.

HERE'S WHERE THE CONFUSION LIES... The year 2000 A.D. is supposed to be 2000 years since the birth of Jesus Christ. The initials " A.D." stand for Anno Domini - Latin for "in the year of our Lord." That's why we call it 2000.

BUT THE SHOCKING TRUTH IS - - IT'S NOT!!!

Biblical scholars have long acknowledged that the date December 25, year # 1 A.D. is just a symbolic representation of Jesus' birth. The truth is Jesus was probably born somewhere around 6 B.C. How can this be confirmed? The New Testament says that at the time Jesus was born, King Herod was the ruler of Judea. You see, Herod died in 4 B.C. and this is why many scholars agree that Jesus was born around 6 B.C.

But, the confusion does not end there! Some scholars have estimated that Jesus' birth was as early as 20 B.C. But regardless of the exact date, the consensus is that the actual "year 2000" - Jesus' 2000th birthday - has already come and gone.

SO, WHEN WAS JESUS REALLY BORN?

In 1979, an astronomer named David Hughes published a book called "Star of Bethlehem: An Astronomer's Confirmation" In his book, Hughes claimed that the date of Jesus' birth was September 15, 7 B.C. His conclusions were based on the story of the three wise men who, according to biblical accounts, set out to find the baby Jesus after the star of Bethlehem appeared in the sky.

In his research, David Hughes looked for recorded astronomical conditions that would verify the time and the existence of the Bethlehem star. He found ancient Babylonian and Chinese texts that revealed an extremely rare conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn that occurred in the constellation of Pisces in 7 B.C.

To verify the validity of Hughes's findings, another astronomer, Percy Seymour, independently tested Hughes's theory at a planetarium in England. Seymour recreated the night sky of Bethlehem based on Hughes's calculations and a huge star appeared on the planetarium screen.

If all these are accurate, and the year # 1 A.D. is what we behold as the year Jesus Christ was born, then the year 2000 that we're here to celebrate is really year 2007.
